Cromwell Museum Vacancy: Learning and Community Officer

Learning and Communities Officer, The Cromwell Museum Huntingdon

The Cromwell Museum is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and dynamic person to join our small team in the role of a Learning and Communities Officer, leading on the development of a formal and informal learning programme and community engagement for the Cromwell Museum. The Cromwell Museum houses the world’s best collection of items relating to the life and times of the 17th century soldier and statesman Oliver Cromwell, and aims to bring this controversial and significant figure to life to our visitors. The Museum is going through an exciting period of development after a recent major refurbishment, and is now looking to broaden its audiences and look at the potential of expanding beyond our current building.

The successful candidate will develop relationships with community groups and organisations across the region to engage them with the Museum, its collections and stories and their relevance for the 21st century, with the aim of bringing new audiences into the Museum. A passion for history, and the contemporary relevance of events in the mid-17th century, is vital, as is enthusiasm for engaging with the public through both formal and informal activities. Excellent teaching and facilitation skills combined with experience gained in learning & community environments are a must for this role
